The Unreasonable Institute’s Unreasonable at Sea program took ten startups with global promise on a ship with Semester at Sea to 13 different countries over 100 days. Experimenting with the “Island effect” that brings people and ideas together in isolation from the rest of the world, but making the “island” mobile so that the teams could alternate between cross-pollinating ideas with each other and locals around the world was quite a clever initiative. We enjoyed seeing the startups pitch on the State Department stage at #UnreasonableAtState and were happy to take part in the event. [Image credit: Unreasonable Institute] We’re proud of our friends @InVenture and enjoyed hearing about the SMS-accessible internet search platform created by Innoz, the water-cleaning grasses being planted by Agua Inc., and the gloriously simple online search tool for government services in the US offered by Aunt Bertha. Keep up the great work, everyone!
A special thanks as well to the Unreasonable Institute, InVenture, Echoing Green, and especially Barclays for hosting a wonderful dinner and conversation at Darlington House. It was a pleasure!
